I have been looking for more ways to try to pare down our monthly expenses and maybe go a little greener in the process. With those two things in mind I started to research on demand hot water systems to see if they would be an advantage or not.
I know about Midway Island from before because I’ve heard my Dad and Grampa talking about the Battle of Midway. It was a famous battle between the US and Japan that was a turning point in the Second World War. Midway Island is fighting another battle, and this time WE’RE the enemy!
My sister found something interesting last week called the James Dyson Award. It is a student design award open to University level students in the fields of design and engineering who design “something that solves a problem.” My sister was really interested in what this year’s winner invented. I was also really excited to find out about this award and I would really like try to win one day with one of my great invention ideas.
I am always really happy to see when businesses do something positive in their communities to help make things better. I just saw an article about the James Dyson Award, an international student design award set up by James Dyson’s charitable trust. (James Dyson is the inventor of the Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner and the bladeless fan.) The award is “to encourage the next generation of design engineers to be creative, challenge and invent”.
I was just surfing around on the web on my favourite subject, whales when I came across a really shocking PSA (Public Service Announcement) about a whale swimming around in a sea of plastic!
Since we all started blogging, I wanted to find a really serious and important topic to write about. Everyone is talking about alternative sources of energy nowadays and it seems like one of our most important issues. I want to talk about Methane, which I was excited to learn happens to be abundant in nature and an alternative source of energy!
As you know, I have a special place in my heart for whales, so I pay attention to anything in the news about them. Recently, I read that there is a concern among scientists that the noise that we inject into the oceans with ships, bridge building, drilling etc. may be seriously bothering sea life and especially whales.
