Earth Stewards

My friend Brian came with me to Sprouts. He’s in my class at school. Our Sprouts group meets at the school gym on Wednesdays.

This week we learned what our Sprout Pledge and Sprout Motto means.

SPROUT’S PLEDGE:

I promise to treat

Other people like my family,

Other creatures like my neighbours

and the earth as all our home.

SPROUT’S MOTTO:

I will do my part to keep our planet a safe place to grow.

My leader  says  that the first

part of the pledge means that we have to be kind to other people and not say or do mean things. The second part means that we have to respect the rights of other creatures to be able to live too. The third part means that the earth belongs to all of us and we have to take care of it.

Our motto means that we have to do everything we can to keep the earth a healthy place to live.

We went outside and cleaned up all the garbage around the school. We got 3 big garbage bags full of papers and other trash. Most of it was along the fence. It looks really nice and clean now. Afterwards, my leader gave everyone a “Earth Steward” medal. He said he made them from recycling the lids from juice cans and putting a ribbon on them. My leader says a Steward is like a protecter.

Brian says he likes Sprouts. He has to learn the Sprout Pledge and and Sprout Motto. Then he can get his uniform. It will look the same as mine. I like my uniform. It is green and yellow. I’m glad Brian is coming to Sprouts with me.
