A running tap uses up to 12 litres (3 gallons) per minute!
Try filling a cup with water, wet your toothbrush in it, brush your teeth, rinse your mouth from the water in the cup (spit it out in the sink) and then rise your toothbrush in the remaining water in the cup.
Don’t use the toilet as a garbage can
Toilets are made for toilet paper and body waste.
Every time you flush a tissue, or a cigarette butt you can spend up to 30 litres of water! (depending on the age of your toilet.)
If you have an older toilet, you can save some water by displacing it in your tank with a plastic bottle filled with water. Bricks are not recommended as they crumble in time and damage your fixtures and plumbing.
