Non-working appliances like refrigerators can become extra pantry space; washer or dryer drums make excellent fire pits for the back yard.

Old furniture can be renewed with covers. You can also just change the look of your furniture by putting on a different slipcover. (Patterned sheets also work well as couch covers or tablecloths.)
